Impacts

Reared from Ceroplastes rusci on fig, from Saissetia oleae on olive (Georghiou 1977); Parasitoid of Coccus hesperidum, Ceroplastes rusci (Wood 1963); This species has long been established in Cyprus. Georghiou (1977) reported that it was first reared from the fig wax scale. Ceroplastes rusci (L.), on fig in 1931 and from S. oleae on olive in 1968. Currently it can be found in all localities on both hosts. Specific studies are being carried out to determine the existence of distinct forms of this. pteromalid in the island. At Akhelia, where the black scale is bivoltine, the second generation being partial, in 1984 it represented 90% of the natural enemies recovered (Table 2). In 1985 and 1986, however, it dropped to 35 and 70%, respectively. Adults emerged all over the year but mostly from the second half of August to the middle of October with a peak in the second half of September (Orphanides 1988).
