Hedgerows, waste ground and margins of cultivated fields, sea-level to 3000', formerly much cultivated as a dye plant and almost certainly nowhere truly wild on the island - noted at Kalavasos and Kouklia in Division 3.
Cultivated at least since the Middle Ages (Georgiadis 1995).
