Alien: Widely planted in the tropics & subtropics - recorded from Larnaca and from Kolossi Castle grounds (Meikle 1977).

Native of Argentina, frequently planted in recent years in Cyprus, especially in Lefkosia and Larnaka. The best-known tree of the species on the island is a protected, giant specimen at Kolossi castle (Tsintides et al. 2002).
