Alien: Present on the eastern side of the Akrotiri Salt Lake (Pescott, Mountford & Peyton, pers. obs.) Also listed by Osorio-Tafall & Seraphim (1973).

It is cultivated mostly as a windbreak on farmlands, on the lowlands (Tsintides et al. 2002).
