Alien: Cultivated tree, from the neighborhood of Nicosia and Salamis [...]. There are no detailed records of the Mesquite's behaviour under cultivation in Cyprus, but it is widely grown, and very ofter successful in many warm-temperate and subtropical areas of the world, sometimes becoming an aggressive invader of grasslands (Meikle 1977).
