Alien: Cultivated.
Recorded from a churchyard at Famagusta by Kotschy (1865) but n doubt planted there. [...] There is no evidence that S. bifolia occurs naturally in Cyprus (Meikle 1985).

As the species is restricted to parks and gardens introduction pathways are indicated in case of possible/potential escape from confinement.
