Alien: Naturalized non-invasive. var. sativa cultivated & waste ground or roadsides - an escape from cultivation, 0-2000' including Kalavasos (Division 3) - widely grown in lowlands of Cyprus and widespread as an escape or relic. Var. angustifolia waste ground, roadsides, amongst garigue on stony hillsides, grassy slopes under pines, occasionally on sand-dunes, sea-level to 5000' - sites include Zagala above Trimiklini & temple of Apollo near Episkopi in Division 3 (undoubtedly indigenous in Cyprus). Var. amphicarpa on stony or grassy hillsides, often in pine forest, 300-2000' - listed for Divisions 5 & 7 where rare.
